HELP · FREQUENTLY ASKED

Everything you want to know — in one place.

Short answers, no marketing fluff. If something important is missing, drop us a line.

01 · Basics

  • What is Journail?

    +

Journail is your intelligent companion for the day. It helps you set a morning plan, follows what you do, and walks you through a short review in the evening — all in a journal kept in your own voice. The aim is a day that pulls toward what matters, not yet another tool shouting for attention.

  • Who is Journail for?

    +

Solo professionals, freelancers, team leads — anyone who directs their own day and wants a clear link between today's tasks and long-term goals. If you already use Todoist or Google Tasks, Journail doesn't duplicate them — it summarises and adds context.

  • How is it different from a plain to-do app?

    +

Classic tasks tell you what to do. Journail adds why — the link to long-term goals, a five-minute morning plan, an evening reflection. You can link any task to a goal and a project.

02 · Daily flow

  • What does a typical day look like?

    +

Morning (≈5 min): the AI asks about your priorities, suggests tasks aligned with your goals + calendar, you confirm. Focus time: tick things off, capture notes, no pings. Evening (≈3 min): short review — what happened, what's open, journal summary.

  • Do I have to use all three phases?

    +

No. Each phase stands alone. Use only morning plans, or only evening reflections — the loop adapts to your rhythm.

  • What if I skip a day?

    +

No drama. Journail doesn't ping you. When you come back you can skip yesterday or wrap it up — your call. No guilt.

03 · Integrations & data

  • Which tools does it connect to?

    +

Currently Todoist (tasks) and Google Calendar (events). An internal task manager is always available if you don't want an external one. Google Tasks is coming soon.

  • Where is my data stored?

    +

In an EU database (Neon / Vercel). Journal entries are encrypted at rest and never used to train AI models — ours or anyone else's. AI is processed by third-party providers that are contractually barred from training on your content; logs are kept only transiently for abuse prevention (up to 30 days).

  • Can I export my data?

    +

Yes. Each journal entry can be exported as text, and a full JSON archive of everything — profile, journal entries, goals, tasks, conversations and settings — is one click away in Settings → Data & privacy. GDPR portability is a given.

  • Can I delete my account?

    +

Yes, in Settings → Delete account. Your data is erased immediately, and removed from rolling backups within 35 days.

04 · Goals & focus

  • How does Journail understand my goals?

    +

You define yearly, monthly, and weekly goals — the AI reads them as context for the morning plan and reminds you which tasks pull toward them. Goals can be edited anytime.

  • Can I link a task to a specific goal?

    +

Yes. Pick a goal from the dropdown on the task form. Linked goals appear as a terracotta ◎ chip next to the project — on the tasks page, the dashboard, and every task row.

05 · Pricing & trial

  • How much does it cost?

    +

See the current pricing. Start with a 7-day free trial — no card required, no auto-subscription at the end.

  • Can I cancel anytime?

    +

Yes. One click in settings → cancel subscription → your account stays active until the end of the billing period, then stops.

  • Education or non-profit discount?

    +

Yes — 50% off for educational institutions and non-profits. Write us to confirm.

06 · Technical

  • Does it work on mobile?

    +

Yes. The web app is responsive and works in any mobile browser. A native iOS/Android app is in development (early access via the waitlist).

  • Does it work offline?

    +

Not yet — Journail needs the internet for AI calls and sync. A local cache makes already-loaded pages reopen instantly.

  • Which browsers are supported?

    +

All modern ones: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge (last two majors). Works fine with Safari on iOS 16+.

07 · For founders & leaders

  • How can founders avoid and overcome founder burnout?

    +

Founders overcome founder burnout by replacing reactive, all-day firefighting with a deliberate daily rhythm: a short morning plan that protects energy and priorities, and an evening reflection that processes the day instead of carrying it home. Journail is an AI daily planner and journal built for founders that does exactly this, turning your goals, tasks, and calendar into a focused ~5-minute morning plan and a guided evening reflection. Catching overload early and keeping work tied to what actually matters is what prevents the slow slide into burnout. Journail offers a 7-day free trial with no card required.

  • How can I build better focus for deep work?

    +

Strong focus for deep work comes from deciding in advance what deserves your attention and shielding it from the noise of competing tasks and notifications. Journail builds a focused ~5-minute morning plan from your goals, tasks, and calendar, so you start each day knowing the one or two things worth protecting deep-work blocks for. By narrowing the day to what matters and reflecting each evening on what got done, it helps you spend more hours in concentrated work and fewer in scattered busywork.

  • How can leaders find mental clarity when they feel overwhelmed?

    +

Mental clarity for leaders usually comes from externalizing the swirl of obligations into one trusted place, then reducing it to a small set of clear priorities for the day. Journail is an AI daily planner and journal that turns your goals, tasks, and calendar into a focused ~5-minute morning plan, and closes each day with a reflection that offloads what's on your mind into a written journal entry. That daily plan-and-reflect loop gives leaders a clear head and a sense of control instead of constant overwhelm.

  • How do I keep my big goals connected to my daily work?

    +

Goals stay connected to daily work when every task is explicitly linked to a larger objective and reviewed each day, rather than living in a separate document you forget about. In Journail, tasks link to your yearly, monthly, and weekly goals, so the morning plan creates daily alignment between today's actions and what you're actually trying to achieve, giving you automated goal tracking as you work. The evening reflection then records progress, so you can see whether your days are moving your goals forward.

  • How can I stop spreading my work across too many apps?

    +

The way to escape tool sprawl is to consolidate planning, tasks, goals, and reflection into a single all-in-one organizer instead of stitching together a to-do app, a calendar, a journal, and a goal tracker. Journail combines all of these: a ~5-minute morning plan, goal-linked tasks, an AI assistant you talk to in plain language, and an evening journal, with optional Google Calendar and Todoist integrations or full standalone use. One place to plan your day and reflect on it removes the friction of switching between disconnected tools.

  • What is the best AI daily planner?

    +

The best AI daily planner depends on your needs, but for founders, leaders, and entrepreneurs who want planning tied to long-term goals, Journail is a strong fit. It builds a focused ~5-minute morning plan from your goals, tasks, and calendar, links tasks to yearly, monthly, and weekly goals, and ends the day with an AI-guided evening reflection that writes your journal entry. It keeps your data in an EU database, never trains AI on your data, integrates with Google Calendar and Todoist or works standalone, and offers a 7-day free trial with no card required.
